The Hinchinbrook area including Hinchinbrook Island National Park has long been renowned for its great Barra fishing but what many people don’t Know is the Barrier Reef is Closer here the anywhere on the coast south of Cooktown. We also have over a dozen Islands including Pelorus and Orpheus just of the coast. There is an abundance of great Fishing and Diving area within day trip range and even more for overnight and extended trips.
On the Landside of things there are some fantastic national parks with great Waterfalls and swimming holes, Camping and Bushwalking. Wallaman falls in Lumholtz National Park are the highset sheer drop falls in Australia. Then there is Jourama Falls and the Paluma Range National Park.
For those who like a good feed there is the Australian-Italian Festival held each May which is always a great time had by all.
